• To provide professional training of the quality in the creation, interpretation and teaching of music;
• To implement a distinctive curriculum which reflects a global and integrated conception of music.
• To support an environment for critical thinking about music through liberal arts education; and
• To create opportunities for the enlightened enjoyment of diverse music’s by the University and the community at large.

The Florida Memorial University Lion Band Association is a 501(c) (3) organization. The purpose of the Association is to provide (a) assistance for the Florida Memorial Band and its objectives in any fashion or method deemed appropriate; (b) keeping appropriate records pertaining to members of the Association and of all former members of the Florida Memorial University Lion Band; and (c) provide the vehicle for expression of joint interests, concerns, and endeavors in all matters pertaining to the Florida Memorial University Lion Band.
